Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the Spanish Group for the Treatment of Digestive Tumors, I am pleased to announce our XVI International Symposium which, for the first time, will be held in Málaga on December 11th and 12th 2008.

Our main objective is to provide a meeting point for all scientific professionals involved in the management of digestive tumors in order to share and update our knowledge and findings.

The first day will be devoted to discuss treatment strategies for colorectal cancer with a special emphasis on the highly-debated selection criteria for treatment. We will also discuss esophageal-gastric cancer including support management and biological therapies, and we will end with an entire session dedicated to less frequent digestive tumors such as bile duct cancer, anal cancer, hepatic cancer, and neuroendocrine tumors.

The second day, we will begin with rectal cancer, focusing on important aspects such as diagnosis and pre and postoperative management. The symposium will finalize with an innovative session which includes an interactive debate regarding two current and controversial topics in which we encourage the participation of the attendees.

We are counting on the participation of highly-regarded national and international specialists with a range of expertise in the area of digestive tumors whose contribution will undoubtedly enhance the educational value of the symposium.

We would be pleased to have your active participation in the symposium and look forward to seeing you and welcoming you personally in Málaga, Spain.
